Design that works on paper and on site

Anyone can produce a drawing pack. The harder job is design that installs cleanly, commissions first time, and holds up under operational scrutiny for years afterwards. Because our engineers also build, install and commission what we design, that operational reality is baked in from the first line on the page.

EC&I

Electrical, control and instrumentation is where Technica started, and it’s still the core of what we do. Our design capability covers power systems (HV and LV), control systems, safety and protection systems, measurement systems, earthing and lightning protection, and cyber security for operational technology. Much of this work is on live, safety-critical assets — where design accuracy isn’t a quality metric, it’s a safety requirement.

01

Software / Control

From PLC and DCS programming to full SCADA and telemetry systems, we design and develop the control layers that let operators see, trust and act on what their assets are doing. Our software engineers work alongside the hardware designers from day one, so integration problems get solved on paper rather than during commissioning.

02

Mechanical / Process

Our mechanical and process engineers handle the physical and process design that EC&I scopes rarely arrive without — pipework, equipment layouts, process interfaces and the associated calculations. It’s what lets clients hand us a whole problem rather than a carved-up package.

03

Civil / Structural

Foundations, cable routes, equipment bases and the structural work that turns a design into something that can actually be built. Keeping civils in-house means fewer interfaces to manage and one team accountable for the whole picture.

04

Multi Disciplinary

Most of our projects draw on several of these disciplines at once — and that’s the point. A single design team under one roof means decisions get made across disciplines, not thrown over the wall between them. On Aberdeen Compressor Station, that meant one team covering fire and gas, SCADA, telemetry, metering, turbine control, HV and LV power, and the associated civils and mechanical works.

Part of a bigger picture

Design is only the beginning. The same team can build, install and commission what we’ve designed — one accountable partner across the whole lifecycle.
