Thameslink Core Resignalling Programme

The challenge

The Thameslink core between St Pancras and Blackfriars carries one of the most intensive timetables in Europe. Our team was engaged to renew life-expired signalling equipment and prepare the route for full in-cab signalling, all while the railway continued to run a 24-trains-per-hour peak service.

Working within short midweek-night possessions, we staged the renewal so that every piece of legacy equipment had a tested, commissioned replacement before it was recovered. Correlation, testing and entry into service were managed by our in-house commissioning team.

The outcome

The programme was handed back on schedule with no service-affecting overruns, and the route now operates with a fully renewed, remotely monitored signalling asset base.
